Who are we?

Sanlam Developing Markets (SDM)(a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sanlam Life Limited) is one of the top financial services providers in the South African entry-level and emerging middle market. It aims to understand the unique requirements of clients and offers a wide range of simple and affordable financial solutions that cover needs such as funeral insurance, savings for education, life cover and personal accident plans. In terms of the Sanlam Group Governance Policy, SDM is managed by the SA Retail Mass cluster, which is part of the Sanlam Life and Savings cluster within the Sanlam Group. The cluster focuses on retail products, as well as group schemes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Gain and maintain an in-depth understanding of SRM product ranges.
  2. Understand the customer’s needs, financial goals, and means, and provide suitable products that meet these goals affordably.
  3. Update and inform customers about new or changed products, managing the implications on their portfolios.
  4. Validate client details according to product and regulatory requirements; submit new business through appropriate channels.
  5. Conduct due diligence on clients to identify and flag risks.
  6. Manage capacity to prioritize daily appointments while accommodating walk-in/non-appointment clients.

In-branch client service and client retention

  1. Service and manage all client profiles to ensure retention, including sending reminders, follow-ups, and support.
  2. Manage NTUs and take corrective actions to improve persistency.
  3. Assess client risk profiles and support clients with alternative payment arrangements.
  4. Provide in-branch service adhering to experience standards, guiding clients through policy cancellations, and resolving queries or escalating as needed.

Quality, compliance, and continuous development

  1. Adhere to compliance and quality standards, maintaining registration and CPD points.
  2. Identify risks and flag potential fraud.
  3. Maintain records of advice and log activities as per regulations.

Monthly planning and reporting

  1. Report activities daily using relevant platforms.
  2. Compile data for weekly and monthly reports.
  3. Perform ad-hoc tasks as requested by the Retail Branch Manager.
Qualifications
  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • RE5 advantageous
  • FAIS Compliant (Wealth Management) as per DOFA requirements.
  • Class of Business training (to be completed within 12 months of employment)
